"Float installation on certified aircraft."
Aerocomps SuperFloats are not FAA certified (which helps keep the price far more
reasonable!). We do not hold any STCs for retrofitting them on any certified airplanes. To
install SuperFloats on a certified airplane, you will need to work closely with your local
FSDO to satisfy the FAAs "field approval" (Form 337) requirements.
Contacting your local FSDO to find out how they would want to handle a modification like
this should be one of your first steps if you are seriously considering installing floats
on your aircraft. There are a variety of ways that it can be done, and the requirements
and expectations of the FAA vary from FSDO to FSDO.
SuperFloats are available in either kit form, or fully assembled (recommended). Mounting
kits including spreader bars, struts, brackets, etc. are available that can be easily
adapted to many different airplanes. Custom-fitting the floats to your airplane would be
your responsibility.
