"How much does the Turbine Proficiency course cost?"

Aerocomp's comprehensive Flight Test and Type Transition Program, which includes a comprehensive and thorough new-aircraft test flight program (normally 25 to 40 hours, as required by Operating Limitations) followed by equally comprehensive and thorough type-transition flight training (up to 11 hours flight time, + ground school and books), in your own airplane, is only $3000. It's a thorough program, modeled after similar courses offered by Flight Safety, etc.

The biggest difference between our course, and the courses offered by conventional flying schools, is that there are no other courses (with which we are familiar) that include both flight testing and type transition training on brand new, experimental airplanes. The only similar courses use simulators only, with no actual air time, and do not include flight testing of the new airplane. Because of that, the insurance companies are not recognizing the other courses -- we've had to design our own. Insurance companies are concerned about the risks associated with private pilots flying turbine-powered aircraft. The insurance companies are depending on this course to be successful in training owners to a standard that will prevent claims. Consequently, the course is very thorough and course participants are held to a high standard. The course assumes that participants are proficient IFR pilots accustomed to flying at speeds of at least 150 mph. If their airplane is a taildragger or floatplane, it also assumes tailwheel or float proficiency prior to starting the course.
